Do I need to take the theory exam in Dutch?
No — CBR (the Dutch licensing authority) offers the theory exam in English. We point you to official English study materials and help you prepare.
What is CBR?
CBR is the Centraal Bureau Rijvaardigheidsbewijzen — the Dutch government body that handles driver licensing. They run the theory and practical exams. Your local CBR office is in Roermond.
Is the practical exam in English?
Yes — Dutch examiners speak English, and the practical test can be conducted in English by request. We arrange this when booking.
What is a "tussentijdse toets" (interim test)?
An optional CBR test mid-way through your training. Pass it and you receive exemptions on the final exam. We schedule it when your progress card shows you’re ready.
I already have a foreign license. Do I need to take lessons?
It depends on the issuing country. EU/EEA licenses can be exchanged directly. Some countries (like Japan, Singapore, South Korea) have exchange agreements. Others require you to pass the Dutch exam — but a short refresher track is usually enough.
I have a 30% ruling — can I exchange my license?
Yes. Highly skilled migrants under the 30% ruling and their family members can usually exchange a foreign license without a full Dutch test. We help you understand if this applies to you.
I’m an international student — can I still take lessons?
Absolutely. We work with students from Maastricht University, Fontys Venlo, Aachen and others. Your residency status doesn’t affect your ability to learn here.
What documents do I need?
A valid ID, your BSN, and (if applicable) your foreign license. We walk you through the rest — the health declaration, theory booking, and practical exam booking.
How many lessons will I need?
Most beginners need 30 to 40 lessons of 90 minutes. Refresher learners typically need 8–15. After the free trial lesson we give you a personal estimate.
Where do you pick me up?
Anywhere within our service area: Roermond, Herten, Maasniel, Echt, Reuver, and surrounding villages. Roermond train-station pickups are also possible if you commute in.
Manual or automatic — which should I choose?
Manual gives you the broadest license (you can drive any car). Automatic is faster to learn and is the standard for most modern hybrid/EV cars. Try both during the trial lesson before deciding.
Can I do an intensive course?
Yes — intensive and "spoed" tracks are possible by arrangement. Tell us your timeline in the contact form.
What happens if I fail the practical exam?
The retake lessons and re-registration are on us. We only book you for the exam when your progress card shows you’re ready, which is why we can offer this confidently.
